The TOP SEMPL Award for the Media Manager of the Year, which will be awarded at the 18th regional media trends conference SEMPL, goes to Marko Kolbl, CEO of Europlakat and founder of Radio Center and Rock Radio from Slovenia.
Ljubljana, November 10, 2016 – At the 18th media trends conference SEMPL, which will be held on the 24th and 25th of November in Portorož, Slovenia, the TOP SEMPL Award for the Media Manager of the Year will be given. The award recognizes longstanding and important contribution of individuals who shape the media and advertising landscape in Slovenia. It is intended for long-term media managers or owners of the media. With the award, the organiser emphasizes the importance of the dynamic development of the media and communications industry in the country.
This year's “Media Manager of the Year” award goes to Marko Kolbl, CEO of Europlakat, the leading outdoor advertising company in Slovenia, and founder and owner of radio stations Radio Center and Rock Radio. He is a part of Europlakat since 1995 where he started his career as a technical director and continued as a CEO from 1996 on. As a CEO of Europlakat, he contributed to development of various outdoor advertising formats, which today represent the image of urban landscape across the country. In 2012, he received an award of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce for outstanding business and entrepreneurial achievements.
Great business model, the right team and stable ownership
“In my view, there are three key factors to the company’s success: great business model, the right team and stable ownership. These three things distinguish Europlakat, Radio Center and Rock Radio,” says Marko Kolbl. He contributes the success of all the three media to continuous innovation and constant striving to be even better.
“The Media Manager Award is a confirmation of our colleagues from media industry who recognise our work as good practice. It is a recognition for me and my co-workers at Europlakat, Radio Center and Rock Radio for successful work in the past two decades,” Kolbl said when awarded with this prestigious title.
The Media Manager of 2016 was selected by a special jury – Toni Balažič, CEO, Mercator (Slovenia), Gregor Pilgram, Member of the Board, Generali insurance company (Slovenia), Dejan Turk, CEO of Simobil (Slovenia) and Vip mobile (Serbia), Pavel Vrabec, general director of PRO PLUS (Slovenia), the last year’s winner of the “Media Manager of 2015” award, and a representative of the organiser.
Marko Kolbl will receive the award at a ceremony in the end of the first day of the SEMPL conference, on the 24th November, 2016, where the winners of the Sempler Awards and the TOP SEMPL “Future Media Star” will also be revealed.
Eight Golden Awards and the Grand Prix award were awarded at the fourteenth competition at the regional Sempler Awards competition. Slovenian creative agency Luna\TBWA won the Grand Sempler for the best media strategy of the year for the campaign "Laško Duel", which was created and executed for Pivovarna Laško Union.
A nine-member international jury for the fourteenth Sempler Awards Competition for the best media strategies of the year selected 34 finalists from all the entries. 25 shortlisted entries are from Slovenia, 4 from Croatia, 3 from Serbia and 2 from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Media projects from five countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time, will compete for the Sempler Awards for the best media strategies in the Adriatic region.
