Why the octopus?

Marketing and advertising require a strategic and creative approach to problem solving. Key ideas must be personalized and strategically and creatively adapted to a variety of communication channels. We have to act real-time and be agile – like octopus. Octopus is a symbol of strategy and creativity as well as intelligence. Octopus is the visual image of the SEMPL 2019.« This is how Futura DDB explained this year's visual identity.

Octopus is the most intelligent invertebrate on the planet and has more brain cells than humans. They use tools, they can open lids, and, if necessary, they can also reach the target through a hole in the size of their eye. They are the only invertebrates that have been scientifically attributed to cognitive thinking, emotions and personality.
And if you think that we marketers are the champions of multitasking, let us disappoint you. The first place, without a doubt, goes to octopuses, which have two-thirds of all neurons in their arms, so they have their own minds and can function completely independently.
Octopus is therefore a symbol of strategy, creativity and intelligence; and in 2019, together with SEMPL, it will become a symbol of trends and future.
