Slovenia to host the first marketing and communication event in the region, adapted to the deaf and hard of hearing

This year's 21st SEMPL conference, which will be held on 28th and 29th November in Portorož's Bernardin hotel, will have the entire programme on the main stage, which includes more than 20 lectures of prominent experts from 11 countries, interpreted into the Slovene Sign Language. This Slovenia's SEMPL conference is the first event in the region to open the doors to the deaf and hard of hearing who are interested in marketing, media and innovation.

The SEMPL conference organizers were very happy to accept the proposal from NLB to become the first conference in the region, which will have its two days of programme interpreted into the sign language. With the help from associations of deaf and hard of hearing, their members will be honored with an option to attend the event free of charge. Not only will SEMPL be available to those, who cannot participate in such conferences and festivals; the organisers will also draw attention to the fact that new technologies, based on speech and sound, additionally exclude the groups, which are already marginalized. “If we can accommodate one individual who would like to be here, and was unable to it before, we will make a great step forwards,” said the President of the SEMPL conference, Valerija Prevolšek.

"SEMPL is showing more and more muscles in recent years, especially in the fields of programme and competition. The vibe outside the conference halls also leaves a very good feeling."
