Sempl 12 – Media (r)evolution a success!

The 12th Sempl has drawn to a close: the winners are polishing the shelves for the torpedoes, some of us are still nurturing our blisters from the wild party dancing, and all of us are collecting our impressions and thoughts regarding the attained revolution in knowledge and information.

Even in the ongoing hard times, Sempl proved that knowledge counts with the number of participants growing from the last year (we counted nearly 700 participants) and the number of submissions exceeding last year’s by 35%!

Expect us to be even bigger, better and maintain our dedication to knowledge next year!

Finalists for the Sempler award unveiled!

The Sempl’s jury had a particularly difficult task this year, due to a record number of submissions for the Sempler awards! Despite this spike in interest, the number of the awards will remain the same. We will confer six Golden Semplers and a Grand Sempler for the all-round winner of the 12^th Sempl.

This year’s finalists are already listed on our website.

All the finalists will be presented on Thursday, 26 November, at 4:45 PM, while the winners will be announced at the evening’s ceremony.

Viva la ceremony, viva la party!

Sempl is primarily meant to educate and is therefore filled with lectures, workshops and presentations, aimed at making you ponder a media revolution. But our programme can wear out even the most persevering revolutionary, so we dedicated Thursday evening to a revolution of fun and fame!

We will start the awards ceremony at 9 PM. Fedja Juvan and Pižama will use humour and revolutionary ideas to navigate between the event’s winners. The fun will then continue in the Tivoli dance club, where we and POP TV will host a revolution on the dance floor, in the glasses and in the ears!

Rumours have it that Kitio mobile will organise an exclusive party entitled “New Experience in Your Hand” as part of Sempl, where it will present the new mobile portals for daily Delo, magazines Lady, Stop, Obrazi, Eva, Anja and Smrklja, and Radio Ekspres.

Sempl 12 – we begin with Google!

We are just over a week away from Sempl. This year the event will kick off with a Google Workshop on Wednesday, while Thursday’s programme will be opened by Walter Naeslund, a Swedish communication strategist. For a successful start to the week we are sending you the three best suggestions according to Walter, who will also explain them in more detail in his lecture “Truth, Transparency and the Death of Privacy?”:

Good decisions bring progress.
Bad ones do to.
When in doubt, consult your primal instincts.

Record number of entries for Sempler Award!

The revolutionary spirit kept telling us to believe in this year’s Sempl, to be daring and to go for big! And heeding this proved right: this year’s Sempl will be even bigger and better!

The best proof of this is our programme, which has retained its educational essence and a review of breakthroughs in the media industry. But the two-day event is this year enhanced with a Google Workshop on Wednesday. Another proof of this year’s success is the number of entries for the Sempler Award, which has exceeded all expectations! A record-breaking number were sent, one-third more than last year, coming from Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. The awards ceremony is really going to be a thriller!

SEMPL 12 – come a day early and take part in the Google Workshop!

The Sempl fever is already palpable so let us present some of the highlights of this year’s event. Friday, 27 November, will administer a shot of industry trends and top it all up with the »Will We Cut All Advertising Budgets« round table, conceived and moderated by Milena Štular, the 2009 advertising personality of the year.

Come a day early, this year we will be starting already on Wednesday, 25 November, with a Google Workshop. Join us for a cathartic and explosive party that will bring numerous surprises and will start on Thursday evening, following a day filled with lectures, workshops, presentations and, of course, the highly anticipated Sempler awards ceremony.

This year’s Sempl is approaching at full speed. The jury is gearing up to assess the submitted campaigns, the lecturers are putting the finishing touches on their presentations and, judging by the number of applications, Sempl will exceed expectations again this year!

We are currently receiving the last submissions for the Sempler awards and another deadline is rapidly approaching! Monday, 9 November, is your last chance to apply and pay the reduced application fee for taking part in the Sempl seminar.

But you can take part in more than just Sempl. You are also welcome to apply for the Google Workshop, which will take place on Wednesday, 25 November, a day before Sempl kicks off. At the event, Google experts will present Google’s tools and take questions from the audience.

Extended deadline for SEMPLER award submissions!

Our phones keep ringing and your e-mails are clogging up our inboxes: you are saying that autumn is a busy busy time, that you need more hours in a day and that you need some more time to draft your submissions for the Sempler award!

We extended the deadline for submissions … you can submit your this year’s best campaigns by (including) Friday, 6 November and deliver your materials to Sempl’s office by Monday, 9 November.

We are looking forward to your submissions and are already cheering for each and every one of you to submit your campaigns in due time and win your Sempler!

An important part of SEMPL is its competition programme! Every year the SEMPLER awards are handed out on Thursday in an event that is a feast for all who love humour and a bit of competitive tension. We would like to invite you to take part in the competition, peek at past winners, enjoy the awards ceremony and cheer for this year’s recipients!

We are sure that many of you carried out numerous successful campaigns in 2009. We would be pleased if you presented them to SEMPL’s participants and jury

and vie for the winning torpedo! Projects can be submitted to the competitive programme by media strategists and planners, and media and communication project clients.

On-line submissions are open until 2 November at SEMPL.
